<1993-2002>
私の最初の第一報(1993年Chem. Phys. Lett)は、坂田忠良先生のご指導の下、大学院修士課程で取り扱った量子ドット増感型太陽電池の先駆けとなる研究でした。修士課程修了後、金沢大学薬学部の教務職員として就職し、パルスレーザー誘起による光反応(励起エネルギー移動や励起状態プロトン移動など)のダイナミクスに関する物理化学的な基礎研究に従事しました。その研究成果は、J. Am. Chem. Soc.やJ. Phys. Chem、およびChem. Phys. Lett.などの雑誌に発表し、また博士論文にまとめました。
<2002-2007>
21世紀を迎えて間もなく、私はScienceに掲載された豊田中研の窒素ドープ可視光応答酸化チタン光触媒の論文に触発され、光触媒による環境浄化の研究へシフトしました。私は、当時環境問題としてクローズアップされていた内分泌撹乱物質のアルキルフェノール類や発がん・変異原性物質の多環芳香族炭化水素の光分解除去の手法に、バナジン酸ビスマス(BiVO4)光触媒を採用し、東京理科大学(工藤昭彦教授)との共同研究によりその有効性を検証しました。これらの研究成果は、触媒開発に関する特許申請2件を含め、Appl. Catal. B: Environ.などの環境触媒の専門誌に発表しました。
<2007-2017>
私は2007年4月に現在の兵庫医療大学に着任し、酸化チタン光触媒によるカルボニル化合物の水素化反応の研究に着手しました。私は、この光還元的水素化反応が、脂肪族カルボニル化合物では全く進行せず、芳香族カルボニル化合物に対して高収率かつ高選択的に起こることを発見し、触媒化学の速報誌(2010年Catal. Commun.)に発表しました。さらに、この反応に対して、酸化チタンの電子捕捉サイトを介した表面反応のメカニズムを考察し、物理化学系の専門誌(2012年J. Phys. Chem. C, 2014年 Catal. Sci. Tech.)に報告しました。
<2017-現在>
光学活性有機分子で修飾したキラルな酸化チタンTiO2光触媒を開発し、上記の芳香族カルボニル化合物の不斉水素化反応に応用しました。この研究成果は速報雑(2018年Chem.Comm.)に発表しました。その中で、カルボキシ基を持つ光学活性なマンデル酸がTiO2触媒に効果的に吸着することを触媒反応の阻害率をもとに評価し、さらにTiO2の形態・結晶相・表面構造が水素化反応のエナンチオ選択性に影響することなどを報告しました。
